:D I noticed on the real victory the gratings have an internal gratings frame and an external frame . Most modelers leave out the internal frame check out these photos The first is the real Victory gratings . The second is the way a modeler should build them . The 3rd is the way most modelers build gratings because it is easier to do it this way without researching . So I try to stress research .Also notice how the pulleys where installed in the mast stay's frame .

I do not see it on older models. I wonder if it was something that started in the late 18th century? Since plans were not made for ships until then, it is probably hard to know? The English and USA usually started something on one ship to see how it worked on actual condition. If satisfied, they would make it the standard for new vessel and restoration. Foreign countries might adopt this technique over time but there was usually a delay.
