I thank you very much for your visit to my build log, for your very kind words and very nice comments. Yes, I do believe that I will start my Blandford Cross Section as soon as I complete the deck boat for my Golden Hind, this is a priority for me. Not only that but my Old Ship Yard is piled to the rafters so to speak that another build would surely crowd me out.

I started scratch building because the kits have so much stuff that I do not like or will not use. An example is the African Queen by Billings, she came with a plastic hull that I hated the look of and built a wooden hull for her. My HMS Victory from Artesana Latina came with a lot of hideous decorations for the Stern After Castle among a lot of other things that I did not care to use. No, when it comes right down to the wire most of my scratch builds do cost much more than those kits with so many parts being pushed aside and probably will never be used in my lifetime.

Yes, Christmas is just around the corner and I would love to have a metal lave and a little mill but at my age, I cannot justify such an expense, 10 or 15 years ago that would have been a different story. My Admiral is very generous with her giving, she just gave me a Dremel 3000, a MicroLux sanding Pen along with an X-Y Table from Micro.Mark and a little Vice to convert my Drill Press into a tiny Milling Machine. So, all in all, I am not really doing all that bad. I am not rich as you are!!!!!! ENJOY.

I bought a metal lathe second hand and was never used on metal. The gentleman who sold it to me lived about 1 and half hours away from me. The price was about half price,

Back in the Old Ship Yard the little fellows and I have kept quite busy with the building of the deck boat for the Golden Hind. All though this boat is very tiny it is like a whole build in its self. We have built the building jig, added the 17 boat ribs and are presently in the midst of planking the hull. Due to the small size of this boat, it is very time-consuming, to say the least. ENJOY.

Well, I have completed my last outside home job this year, I have removed the lawn mower and installed the snow blower on my garden tractor, I hope that I do not have to use it but if so I am Ready. Once again I thank you all very much for all of your many visits to my build log on the little ship the Golden Hind. Also for your very kind words and overly nice comments.

Back in the Old Ship Yard the little fellows and I have completed the planking of the Golden Hind little Deck Boat this afternoon. Well, we sat back and gave this boat the evil eye for a couple of hours. Wondering!!! did we put enough wax on the building jig for the boat to release? Did we use just a bit too much CA in attaching the boat planks to her ribs? Knowing if either of these things occurred and the boat did not release than we would have to start all over again. We put all of these crazy thoughts aside, got out my razor saw and cut each of the ribs just above the gunnels. We then got out our Xcelite Knife and inserted it between the inner ribs and the building jig and low and behold the boat almost jumped off of the building jig.With this ordeal behind us, we can move on to completing the deck boat. I mean the Gratings, Oar Locks, and Oars along with a rudder and tiller to name a few. ENJOY.

Once again I do thank you all very much for all of your visits to my build log on the little ship the Golden Hind. For all of your very kind words a d overly nice comments.

Back in the Old Ship Yard the little fellows and I have almost completed the Deck Boat. We have added the Boats Rudder and Tiller, the seating and cut out the Oar Locks. We also added the bracing for the boats Transum. We still have to build some Oars, probably around 4 as the 12 required would be overwhelming and that is for sure. We have also built the boat's cradle and installed it on the Main Deck and given the boat and her resting cradle 3 coats of varnish. We have decided against the two Mast and sails as they would have to be folded and would create a huge pile of stuff for such a little boat, ENJOY.

Back in the Old Ship Yard that has been very slow lately the little fellows and I have finally built those 6 Oars, Varnished and Painted the hand grips and lashed them in the little Deck Boat. We also Secured and lashed the Deck Boat to her deck cradle and added a couple of rope coils to finish her off.



We got our first major snowfall of the season yesterday 3" + or 7 1/2 + cm, this was very light snow but it gave me a chance to run my snow blower for around 1/2 hour. It was rather nice to work outside if only for a few minutes. Back to the Old Ship Yard as the little fellows and I will try and build a couple of Elm Pumps and try to find room for them on the deck of our Golden Hind,
