GOLDEN HINDE by Canoe21 { Lawrence } Harold A Underhill Plans, Scale 1:60

Hello Ship Mates

I again thank you all very much for all of your visits to my build log on the little ship the Golden Hind. Also for your very kind words and overly nice comments.

Back in the Ols Ship Yard the little fellows and I have cleaned up the outer hull planking and also installed the six Wales to her Hull. We have also applied two coats of varnish to the outer hull and we are in the midst of building the two Catheads, we have left the overhaul length long to be trimmed up in there fitting, ENJOY.

Hello Ship Mates

Again I do thank you all very much for all of your visits to my build log on the little ship the Golden Hind. Also for your many very kind words and overly nice comments

Back in the Old Ship Yard the little fellows and I have continued our general clean up. We have painted the insides of the Outer Bulkwards a sort of an off red. We have also added the Bulkwasd Stations to all of the Decks. We have installed and varnished the Ships Wheel and also her Binnacle, along with the Gratings and the Stairs to the Lower Deck. Al of this seemed to look ok to us when we discovered a long chip our of the After Plank on the Focal Deck that must be replaced. To our horror, we discovered that the Golden Hind carried a boat on her main center deck. This is where we were going to build our stair casing to the upper Focal Deck, with the boat in its place there is no room for the stairs. Not a very nice way to start our day, but we will have to work around it.

We have also added a couple of pictures of our LED LIGHTING, the Old Ship Yard was not really dark enough this AM to truly show their effects but we will add them for now and try to get some better ones when it is darker, ENJOY.

Hello Mike Shanks

I thank you very much for your visit to my build log, also for your very kind words and nice comments. Yes, I also believe that the LED Lamps do add a lot to ones build. She should make a fine night lamp when she is completed. I got my LED'S from Evans Designs out in Colorado. Great people to deal with and at a great price. In my hast to see just how the stern light lited, I forgot to reinstall the resistor and blew the LED. No fault of Evans what so ever but they replaced the LED free of charge. I thought that was very nice of them. ENJOY.

Hello Ship Mates.

Just a little update in response to the Horrors that we discovered early yesterday AM. Since we do want to add the ship's boat and the doors were to close to the outside Bulwarks we decided to add a stare case in the Focal Grating, we have also replaced that split timber on the After side of the Focal Deck. Just one of the joys of model shipbuilding and it only cost us 1 1/2 day +, ENJOY.

Back in the Old Ship Yard the little fellows and I have continued in the dressing up of our little ship. We have built and installed the two columns railings at either end of the Focal Deck and all though not at all like out plans we have built an installer a Railing Cribbing on either side, our plans did call for a Solid Bulwarks here but we figured that the Cribbing would dress her up just a bit. Then again if we do not like this look then we can always Plank it in like out plans call for

We have built and installed all of the Hand Railings and Bulwark trim all the way around the Golden Hind, ENJOY

Hello Ship Mates

Once again I do thank you all for all of your visits to my Build Log on the little ship the Golden Hind. For your very kind words and overly nice comments.

Back in the Old Ship Yard the little fellows and I have spent a rather busy weekend building the Stern Gallery Balcony and installing the ballisters around its outside side edges. As you can see in our pictures we have also dry fitted the Balcony to the Stern Gallery. Now we must prepare it for the gluing and also must build the six supporting brackets that will support the Balcony, ENJOY.

Railing looks very good Lawrence. :D

Hello Don

I thank you very much for your visit to my build log. Also for your very kind words and nice comments. Yes, the little Golden Hind is starting to take shape. I did change the Stern Castle Windows as they appeared to large against the Balcony Railing, I also cut the door frame casing down a fair bit to take the bulkiness away from it. We did glue in the Balcony yesterday and add the end rails. Today we will start with the support brackets to support the Balcony, ENJOY.

Hi Lawrence,
I always enjoy viewing your work. :handgestures-thumbup:

Hello Mike

I thank you very much for your very kind words and nice comments. This little ship the Golden Hind is sure turning out to be a challenge, seams that I spend more time in the repair, redo section of the Old Ship Yard than I do building these days, but I figure that is just one of the joys of model shipbuilding, ENJOY.

Looking nicer and nicer Lawrence big difference from when it was at beginning of the thread.

Hello JosepH

I thank you very much for your return visit to my build log on the little ship the Golden Hind. Also for your very kind words and overly nice comments.Yes, the Ugly Duckling is but very slowly into a thing of beauty. This little ship seems to spend almost half of her free time in the Rebuild section of the Old Ship Yard. I can not seem to figure this one out, rather it is my build plans that are very sketchy on the details or maybe it is just me for being just too fussy, but all and all she is a very challenging and rewarding little ship all at the same time, ENJOY.

Regards Lawrence
