GOLDEN HINDE by Canoe21 { Lawrence } Harold A Underhill Plans, Scale 1:60

Hello Ship Mates.

Well it has been a week now since our return from our vacation and opening back up the Old Ship Yard along with a lot of home catch-up work. Out weather is very strange this fall as all week the temp. has been up in the low 92f or 33c and we have used our AC a lot this last week, yesterday it turned cold 39F or 4c and we now have our furnace running, but it is very nice and clear outside.

Back in the Old Ship Yard the little fellows and I are still working on the second outer hull planking that seems to go on forever and with any sort of luck, we will complete it this coming week so that we can move forward to the more interesting little jobs that we do enjoy so very much more. ENJOY.

Ahoy Lawrence,
Your little ship is looking good. :handgestures-salute:

Hello Mike

I do thank you very much for your visit to my build log, for your very kind words and nice comments. I am slowly getting caught up on my home chores that seemed to pile up so very much in just two weeks of vacation time, but I am almost there now. That will leave me just a bit more time to work and enjoy my Old Ship Yard.

Got a question, on the bottom of your build log posts you have a ships wheel with Bladford wrote across it and also Group Build, is this another Form that you have joined? Just curious that's all, ENJOY.

Regards Lawrence

Hi Lawrence my friend

Hello Geoff

I thank you very much for your visit to my build log and also for your very kind words and nice comments. Yes, we are moving along very slowly and hope to complete the second outer hull planking this week so that we can move on to the more fun stuff. I am also replacing the pictures in my log a bit by bit. Replacing the pictures is quite easy but now I find that the new form will not accept the same size as the old form and resizing them all dose take up a fair bit of time that I do find a bit of time when the glue is drying on the outer hull second planking, ENJOY

Regards Lawrence

Ahoy Lawrence,
I think the ships wheel with Blanford identifies the members who joined in on the group build cross section project. You can contact Donnie or Mike 41 about the project if you are interested. Your little ship is looking good. :handgestures-salute:

Hello Ship Mates

I thank you all very much for all of your visits to my build log on the little ship the Golden Hind. Also for your very kind words and overly nice comments. Well, we have finally got caught up on our household chores and have been able to put in a fair bit of time in the Old Ship Yard.

Back in the Old Ship Yard, the little fellows are well rested after our vacation and we have completed the second outer hull planking. We have also added the Cut Water and planked it along with the Keel and the Rudder Post. This I did not want to do but for my unthinkingly I had installed the two tie-down mounting bolts and upon drilling these out we found that they were just about the same size as the two tie-down bolts. We also did a lot of clean up on the outer hull but some more is also needed. Now we must decide on just how to finish the outer hull. We are trying to decide between our gold Old Tung Oil that is so easy to apply but attracts the dust like a magnet, or will we use a Satin Varnish or maybe a Gloss Varnish. ENJOY

Hello Mike

I thank you very much for your visit to my build log, for your very kind words and nice comments. I think now we will give her a thin coat of varnish to protect the wood and give her a sanding base, ENJOY.

Hello Ship Mates

Again I wish to thank you thank you all for your many visits to my build log. For your very kind words and overly nice comments.

Back in the Old Ship Yard the little fellows and I have built the Privy Deck. WS have plank grated the deck, added a door to each side to assist in lifting the Ancor on board. We have also cut four deck vents or scuffers to each side of the bulkheads. And just for fun, we have dry fitted our figurehead, yes it is a Lyon and not a Deer like the replicas in the UK. ENJOY.

Hey Lawrence, the figure head looks great as does the rest of your build.
Have a Good Day

hello Don

Welcome to the SOS Form, sure is nice to see that you are making your rounds also. The people over here are very friendly and also very helpful. It seems that if we stay away from the Chinese build logs and not post on them that our standings are safe. That is rather a hard thing to do when so many are building a Chinese kit these days, but the little extra effort is well worth it. thank you very much for your visit to my build log, for your very kind words and nice comments. Yes, my golden Hind is slowly coming together. Spent the day resizing the gun ports after the second planking and also correcting some damage on the forward outside bulkheads in preparation for a coat of varnish, that should bring some life into my little ship.

Will;l you posting your build log on your Trabakul here on the SOS Form or will you be starting a new ship. I have been looking at the Blandford Group Build that has a lot of members already joined up and it seems to be a nice way to learn the framing process of model ship building, ENJOY.

Regards Lawrence

Good morning Lawrence. Thanks for the welcome and the warning. I am thinking of adding my Trabakul build here but I am going to wait and see if the new server that is going to be implemented will allow larger pictures that will not have to be compressed.

Keep up the good work
Don
