Afternoon Gentlemen

Just got back from the store. Has anyone had the occasion to use super glue by Gorilla that is listed as a gel? Sounds like just the ticket for some tricky situations. Notice I held back from saying sticky situations.

John

Hi John,

We don't have the Gorilla brand here but keep in mind that unless you use activator, gel type superglue takes ages to cure. It is suitable for parts that needs to be strong but take some time to fit together. After you're satisfied with the fit, activator applied for superfast cure. Useful in some situations although I hardly use them.

Thanks for your response. I too am not a big fan of super glue but open to try things. I ended up going back yesterday and getting a bottle so we will see how it goes. I'm sure it will come in handy at some point.

Hi All, Need some help, doing a kit of the Dutch Sanjaychat by Dusek, question there are many thin veneer parts to glue on the model after plywood insalled(veneer is.6mm) very thin, in the past hve encoutered problems when using my glue Tite Bond(translucent) with warpage of the venner, do not want to use CA for many reasons, have found 2 typs of glue that I need information on,.....one is a Elmers Clear School Glue,...... the other is Aleenies tacky glue,(know nothing of either one could someone help me to find the right type of glue. THANKS Don

I use different wood glues and your right they are to wet and will warp thin pieces. What I do is pour some in a small bottle and let it dry out until it thickens up. This takes a lot of the moisture out of the glue.

Thanks Dave, Will try that,....do yo know any thing about the GLUES I mentioned especially the tacky glue, I have used the Elmers Adhisves Glue, whtch I used for patterens on wood but did not work to well. THANKS Don

I have used the gorilla wood glue with really good success it really dries fast like 10 mins it sticks good then a couple hours to fully cure. it isnt a super glue but it is really good.

a second one i use is Elmers wood glue max it is both sandable and stainable
