Friedrich Wilhelm Zu Pferde 1/48 scale by Euro Model

Nice progress again. Trinidad almost finished then it will be a building combination with the wilhelm and the felipe. You keep building this one so i have a good guideline. Drawings are not always so clear for me.

No worries Pat, they show a lot of things on the plans that are not even included in the kit, like the Hancing pieces, they show them on the outside of the hull and also on the inside, but only include enough for the outside,

Best regards John,

Sometimes i search for items but cant find them. Thats the reasson then. Gonna start next week again. Making veneer strips now . Bought 40 A4 size sheets for 7 euro so lot of sawing to do for the wilhelm. Enjoying the felipe a lot now . Helps me relax. Crohn disease has been active for 2 weeks now so energie level is low. Little bit building then sleeping and building and sleeping and so on.keep following your great build.

Hi John,

Nice progress on the fwzp. Are the carvings still from Euromodel or your own replacements?

G'day Maarten, the casting are the one's from the kit, I just scratch built the ship and used their castings,
Best regards John,

I managed to get a bit more done on the FWZ, I had fixed all the top rails and also planked the poop deck,
next up I started constructing the bulkhead between the quarter deck and the Poop deck,

193.jpg
I made a false plywood bulkhead,

194.jpg
Then using the drawingsi worked out where the decorative figures and the doorways had to go, the bulkhead is
not yet glued in place,

195.jpg
The bulkhead with the figures and planking in place, still not glued yet, i then cut out the two door ways between
the figures,

196.jpg
To give some depth to the doorways I cut back on the cross beams and painted the cut outs black,

The bulkhead is now glued in place after a coat of dark varnish,

Next was the upper rails and dexcorations, this is the plan in place across the deck,

203.jpg
I glue a copy of the plan to a piece of plywood, and then bent the rails to shape, pinning them in place on the plan,
I then glued the central decoration in place,

204.jpg
followed by the other decorations,

205.jpg
The rails sitting in place, I now have to attach a bottom and top rail to finish them off,

206.jpg
another view,

207.jpg
The cross deck railing glued in place, you can see just behind the decorations that I have glued upright posts to
support the railings,

208.jpg
another view, you can see the upright posts better in this view, they show a strip of decoration on the plans that
sits on top of the bulkhead just above the figures, but they do not include it in the kit, so I had to make it,

209.jpg
This is what i used, girls bracelets, I bought four in a charity shop for two dollars,

210.jpg
a closer look,

211.jpg
and after straightening one of them out,

I decided to build the top cabin on the poop deck next,

218.jpg

I built a carcass out of plywood to sit in the area and support the cabin roof,

219.jpg
The carcass sitting in place,

220.jpg
This shows the cabin front from the plans,

221.jpg
and after planking, I then added another plywood frame across the back of the cabin to support the roof planks,
