I am now the owner of a "vintage" mint in box Bluenose II by Artesania Latina. The kit is 1:75 scale and is dated 1985 version 20500. It comes with a 90min VHS tape (probably degraded and useless).
QUESTIONS: has anyone built this kit? The white metal parts appear to be of good quality and the plans are good. The hull forms look like they were gnawed out by a one toothed drunken rat. Other than that all is good, no missing parts.
In looking over the plans and instructions I find that the finishing detail and the superstructure are very crude. These will need to be dressed up during construction.
I am also thinking of starting a build log for this project. Does anyone have input on this kit? Thanks.

You could try my website. I have a practicum for the AL Bluenose II as well as the MS Bluenose at https://www.lauckstreetshipyard.com/home .

Anchorman - have no knowledge on AL's Bluenose ll but here's a link to a review that I stumbled over. Just posting this to review and again, have no knowledge of accuracy of this post. Best to you on your build! Cheers!

Thanks, it looks like the same kit but not the same box. I know you mentioned that you are (or will be) working on a Bluenose also. My major concern is that the detail is not there., it looks more like a "toy" than a model. Fortunately there are a ton of pictures and film/video of this ship. I should be able to come up with a work around. All this is compounded by the fact that it is 1:75 scale.
Not sure about the build log now, may be just pictures when I am done.
Thanks again for the link.

Thanks Bob, I am still very new to this. My major concern is the hull profile and the planking. There are some nice lines in this ship and I don't want to mess it up.
I live in the Canadian Maritime region and would not hear the end of it.
I think I have what I need now.

Well I got her done, many thanks to you all for your help and input. I did one layer of hull planking and then paint in the formal colours.
I did a few modifications on the superstructure and did not install the outer rail as it looked terrible as supplied.
The only thing missing is a flag. The one that came with the kit is a maple leaf, not used in 1963 when the ship was launched and, the ship was privately owned by a brewery at the time. Not sure what the flag would have been.
