At the beginning of the XX century the Cancale and Grandville bisquines caused general admiration in the coasts of English Channel because of their rig´s surface when they were prepared for races, taking the lug rig to its maximum exposure and overpassing without difficulty 12 nots of speed when handled by expert crews.

The bisquines had this lug rig without stays nor even real shrouds which truly results notable for that amount of sails.

The main purpose of the bisquines was dredging fishing with bottom trawling nets in oyster banks inside the bay of Mont-Saint-Michel, for which they needed to have a good traction force, which next to the need to arrive early at port to sell the captures in the best conditions it explains the dimensions of its rig. 40AA428B-5555-4A46-BD9E-AAA5E63C472E.jpeg 857D8744-9FD4-40B5-8DF9-12EFB0FCAD96.jpeg 802668A7-BA91-4F7F-9809-F602119B6FFC.jpeg C732FAD0-624D-4E62-A664-AE6A2E7AAA52.jpeg DEB8D5C4-B768-4FE5-9B6C-909C8C1C5B5A.jpeg BD843D47-0F3B-4623-BB36-6CD075EB32E0.jpeg E43C34D1-C4F2-48C5-8060-2A3552508B5B.jpeg 2F2023AC-5815-4D71-9048-E821890022EE.jpeg 3D5B5657-F543-409F-8256-8DF3A6C09F33.jpeg 6283B377-77D8-4B57-93BC-5BE791747F7F.jpeg 51A2A1CA-A958-468E-B11A-03CB70A28938.jpeg 1E4C20FC-FDC7-4203-96DD-7AD55A028EA3.jpeg B2C1D345-762C-4D6A-8705-647A59D36455.jpeg CDF36C3C-4485-4598-9537-053CBF4E8D0C.jpeg

Wow! Wonderful little bisquine !! Congratulations for having returned all the details of these formidable French fishing boats of the 19th.
Today, every year, bisquines of Cancale and Granville compete in an incredible regatta!
