Hi all..

I dont know if you have heard it, but Billing Boats has gone bust on 2nd of June 2015!!

Does anybody know anything?? I know that everything has been sold, by dont know if the buyer intend to carry on the business...

Ages of Sail bought most of their stock and I think they have a source that will replace kit parts, etc. Unfortunately for you though, this is a store based in California, USA.

This is my understanding that I was told from a well informed source. As some may know,Billings was bought from the original owners some time ago by German model company,Robbe Schluter.Whilst Billings,to my Knowledge, have not been declared bankrupt,Robbe Schluter filed for insolvency earlier this year.A bail out has been found, but it will take some time for supply to resume. All this coincided with a switch of production to China,so as you can imagine,it is a bit of a 'double wammy'

Kind Regards

Nigel

Ahh,I am refering to the company as a whole,as far as I was aware the US Billings was a company in their own right as part of the distribution network.Robbe Schluter do now have a factory in China, which are supposed to turning the kits out for themselves and the ones branded as Billings.Supply is still low in Europe, but kits are steadily making it onto the market over here.

Kind Regards

Nigel

I too have a soft spot for their kits Popeye :) Mary Ann being my first wooden kit build back in the early eighties. The instructions in most of their kits is pretty dire, but once you have built a couple of their models, you don't take much notice anyway :D

Kind Regards

Nigel
