1/48 scale Launch, plank on frame, by neptune

Thanks guys for all the comments and the likes,
G'day Maarten, the pinnace and the launch will probably end up on the Royal William,

G'day Greg, I'm glad that you think it is oarriffic ,

G'day Andy, the oars are not too bad after you have done half a dozen or so,

G'day Brian, I will not be rigging them with masts and sails, if I do do masts and sails they will be wrapped and laid in the boats,

G'day to Mike and Joe, thank you for your nice commen

Well thats the oars finished,

And laid in the boat,

I managed to break the back off the seat just in front of the cox's position, so I used some of the scrap veneer to
repair it, I cut and trimmed the front part, and then glued it to another piece for extra strength,

102.jpg
this is the repaired part, with my finger nail for size comparison, the rebated part went up against what was left
of the original seat and was glued to it,

103.jpg
In position just needs a final sanding, and varnish,

104.jpg
and the seat with its coat of varnish, that is the finish now and it will be tucked away till needed,

Thank you all for viewing my log, I hope you have enjoyed it,

best regards John.

You are a clumsy clot John. Fancy breaking something that strong and sturdy!
Just joshing you mate.
Great repair!
Greg

Clumsy clot means that you are a uncoordinated person
Joshing means having fun at your expense or 'don't take it to heart, it is only a joke.etc.'

The missing sheet of parts has arrived and this is the continuation of the build of the launches,

106.jpg
I ended up buying another launch and the seller included the missing sheet of parts in with it, so I am building
them both together, this is both the launches with all the square frames fitted and also the stern gratings,

107.jpg
And this is the dock yard inspector, luckily he has approved most of the work,

108.jpg
Just a couple of pics again to show how small these parts are,

109.jpg
another view,

and a side view of both launches,

Looking like a very detailed small kit - is it possible to sand down the laser char before installation of the frames, or do you plan to sand them after you have a complete and rigid boats structure?

Greeting John! Very well executed! I have built exactly those two boats, it was fun to assemble. Please keep up a great job. Did I miss earlier in the post, what glue did you use for the frame setup?

G'day Jim, the glue I use on them is CA glue, just got to be careful and not use too much, did you sand the char off your frames or just leave them as they are,

Greetings John, it tried a few times, and different technics, but no avail. I broke a few. You would guess that jig would hold those frames tight, then try a second guess. As you mentioned, those frames made out of very thin and fragile plywood.

Thank you Jim, I'm going to leave them as they are then,

This as you can see is the frame work lifted off the jig, its handy to be able to remove it now and then,

112.jpg
All the square frames sat in a notch on the keel piece, but the cant frames just sat up against the marks on the
stem, when building the cutter I had trouble keeping them in place, so on these launches I decided to CA glue
a piece of wood curved to match the rise of the cant frames so the frames would have something to rest against
instead of slipping down the stem,

113.jpg
another pic of the boat in the jig, doing it this way means that I will need to do some careful cutting after the
glue has dried to remove the support piece,

114.jpg
These are the floor boards, ready to be glued into the bottom of the boat,

115.jpg
The launch with the floor boards in place,

116.jpg
Removed from the jig so I can add the seating, Ive already added the stern seating,

117.jpg
and the seating in place,

118.jpg
both launches at the same state of construction,
