The transom timbers, some re-used knees and the ballast keel are the only parts from the original Tally Ho that I know of.

What is the biggest and most difficult model ship to build?

    hatch coamings

This is a very interesting topic. I do prefer the look of the lap scarf joint rather than the picture frame mitre joint. On the subject of the lap scarf joint I'm a bit confused on the logic behind the 'dovetail' wedge on some of the below pictured joints, specifically since the lap scarf joint...

    LIFE JUST GOT EASYER

Cool tool- I want one. Just one question: This is for bending only- not very good for soldering right?

    Wood glue mark

If you're anything like me, you will leave a mess, so here are some of the things I do to prevent the mess: Only apply the minimum amount of glue to the middle of the piece (apply with a controlled utensil rather than straight from the bottle), when you press/clamp the piece in place the glue...

    Protecting my painted surfaces.

You can place it in a box with pool noodles or similar to support the hull then a soft cloth against the hull. The deck should be the same level as the top of the box. Nice model by the way:)

Advice on how to fix the error I made on my lake freighter

I would glue the 'little bubble' as a pre-formed piece of wood larger than required. Then, once dry, I would file and shape to the desired shape. Use car bog to smooth out any gaps ready for primer.

    Museum quality models myth

This is one of the 'Hot Topic' threads where I find myself agreeing with most comments. This is most likely because the subject matter is not defined, and can vary from country to country and museum to museum. Some museums will have clear guidelines on what merits a model ship's position in...
