Thanks for the BDay wishes !!!! Construction on the LGV is paused right now. We are doing major remodeling on our home so I have no access to the workshop right now. Its become more of a storage area right now ! LOL

    New Occre kit

This model is a disaster in my opinion - you are better off with the Caldercraft version if you choose to build a Victory

"Start-up Conversations" and "Build Support-Tips, Advice" here.

A kind word of advice - go buy a board of cherry (which is relatively inexpensive) and if you dont have the tools to reduce it - go find a cabinet maker to assist you. I had a local cabinet maker dimension a flitch of Pear for my builds to 3/8, 1/4 and 3/16 for about 80 dollars in shop time. I...

    Changing Blades on Proxxon DH40

Hello Friends, I installed the blades successfully. The trick is to start with the glib screws to zero while the screws are loose for the blade holder then adjust. It took plenty of back and forth with the height using the glib screws to get an acceptable result. I then rubbed down the...

Le Gros Ventre 1/36th Scale - Monograph by GDelarcoix

Thanks Charlie I am used a Proxxon MF70, but recently upgraded to a Taig Manual Mill 2019ER. The Proxxon comes in handy for the small parts but for anything larger and more complex I will use the Taig.

Le Gros Ventre 1/36th Scale - Monograph by GDelarcoix

Thanks for the bday wishes ! I do have progress to report. The frames are all assembled and waiting for final sanding. The construction site is finished. And I bought a new mill - which will come in handy for the difficult stern parts up next. I have attached some photos including the keel...

Tilting Mount for Proxxon MF70 Vise

I have seen a few logs that have a tilting mount adapted for the MF70 and its vise. From my search on the web most tilting vises sold commercially are too high (3 and 1/2 inches is the lowest I have found) to work well with the MF70's range. So I am assuming most of these mounts are home...

Le Gros Ventre 1/36th Scale - Monograph by GDelarcoix

Assembling frames continues - 32 out of 64 completed. The price of Pear has doubled - glad I bought a flitch of it back in 2017 as I am consuming a lot of wood framing her in this larger scale.

Le Gros Ventre 1/36th Scale - Monograph by GDelarcoix

Ive been collecting Ancre Publications over the years - all the volumes of the 74 Gun ship, Le Commerce de Marseille, Amarante, La Renommee, Jacinthe and his latest Egyptienne. The reviews here are very helpful.

Le Gros Ventre 1/36th Scale - Monograph by GDelarcoix

Thanks for the comments ! In 1/36th the hull is a little over 1 meter long. I do not plan on rigging/masting. I also own the LAmarante Monograph - which would be a great subject to mast and rig due to its smaller size in 1/36th - could be my next one ! The carvings gave me pause on that one...

Le Gros Ventre 1/36th Scale - Monograph by GDelarcoix

Greetings Group, I started this one back in 2019 (mainly the axial timbers) and after a few year hiatus have started building frames as of the beginning of August - 20 so far (roughly 1/3rd of the total frames. I am using swiss pear almost exclusively. The frames are simply assembled at this...

    Agora Bismarck

Thanks for the compliments ! I was going to build the CAF Granado - but decided to go ahead and jump into an Ancre build based on the amount of milled Pear I have in the shop and power tools I have collected over the years for a fully framed build. Im not getting any younger.... The axial...

    Agora Bismarck

Bismarck is completed. All of the electronics work (turrets rotate, elevate, and make firing noise), as well as props, lights and anchors. My kids think its the greatest ship ever - so its going in their room ! It was a fun build but a bit dissapointing considering its price - as you can...
