ZHL Royal Caroline Kit, scale 1/30

We can see the amount of excellent detail in this build. My congratulations!!! Now if you want to add "just a few" more details to your ship, just have a look to this one: http://www.shipmodell.com/index_files/SHIPMODELL_ROYAL_CAROLINE.htm but maybe you already know this model. I...

Window on the ship's hull - how to imitate the window glass

For me, any rigid transparent packaging will do. I usually paint the back side in black (not the conventional, but unrealistic blue, brrr!). If the window requires glass in lead, I glue black coloured curtain fabric diagonally on the front, with PVA glue. Happy modeling

H.M.S Enterprise plank on frame CAF Models 1/48.

I am sure your model will look even better than the manufacturer's one, as on this one there seem to be quite a few bumps in the run of the planks: some extra sanding would certainly help. By the way, as other modellers mentioned, it would be a losing games to look away from these kits: there...

HMS Royal Caroline kit ZHL 1/30

Please allow me to congratulate you for this beautiful build so far. I'll be eager to follow your progress. A little question: I saw a (scratch built?) model of the Royal Caroline a (huge) time ago at a Model Engineer Exhibition at Alexandra Palace London, and this model had its inside...

OcCre Santisima Trinidad Build with Reverse Rigging [COMPLETED BUILD]

Re: Correl Santisima Trinidad Build with Reverse Rigging <t>Very strange way of doing things. Hope it works well. I suppose this concerns the running rigging only. Now on a ship like the Santissima Trinidad, you must be dealing with an awful lot of threads lying around you model.<br/> <br/>...

    Treenail

Ah treenails: the wooden ship modeller's obsession. Just like rivets were the obsession of plastic airplane modellers in the sixties. An items some modellers spend weeks on, and which very seldom look quite OK scalewise: often too large (just like the rivets on the airplanes were) or too dark...

How do you bend your hull planks?

I know I will not convince any of you, plank wetters or plank heaters, but on my current model, I do all my bending with my devoted Amati nipper. It is fairly quick, I don't burn or boil my fingers, and I don't spill water over the floor. Also, the terrible "dead cow effect" which happens when...

    Home-made Kits

Hi Bob. Remember mer? I'm the Parker pen spotter. Beautiful miniatures again, and striking ice effect, although maybe it's a pity your wonderful handicraft is concealed under the ice. On the other hand, with the earth heating up, it's nice to enable future generations to remember what ice...

    Hello from Belgium

Hello to you all. I am (just) 70, retired, and have been building mopdels as far as I can remember (I still have all my memory, which prooves that people are still better than some computers!). I Have built quite a lot of plastic models, and I am still a member of the IPMS community...
