Hello everybody ,I am looking for ideas for storing milled tmbers/strips,which includes wood types and sizes ,easily identifies tham too.Pictures welcome too, thanks .
Hi I keep my strips in lengths of 2inch waste pipe you can ger bungs for the end to stop them falling out and they can be cut to length so 3 to 4 inches of the strip is showing
AND THEY ARE CHEAP !!!
I keep mine in 1/2, 3/4 and 1 inch diameter thin walled PVC pipe. Since I’m rather new at ship modeling my lumber collection is rather small. The pipes are banded together by rubber bands and stand in a 6 in diameter cardboard mailing tube. The pipe lengths are 24in.
Thank you guys for the input, the PVC pipe idea is very good,I need to find a way to organise the pipes maybe vertically for wood types and lengts, maybe Pauls idea that keeping working stocks in kit boxes.
The PVC pipe is the best idea but I don't have a lot of room for something like that so I just keep everything in an old kit box. I have separate boxes for planking, plywood, dowelling, etc. and everything sits on a shelf in the closet. Yes, the boxes wear out over time, but its a good excuse to buy more kits!
