Halifax Build Log: Lumberyard

Thanks Zoly, that is all the hull planking I am going to do leaving frames exposed, will do some minor deck planking where the guns are. Don

@donfarr, it's looking great.

I have a question. Are you going to display the ship alone as unfinished, or as a work in progress with workers?

Display the ship alone as an ADMIALTY STYLE BUILD, just have not got thetalant to do the carvings,. DON PS THANKS FOR THE COMENTS
Oh, I did not know about Admirality style builds, so I looked it up on the Internet.
I was suprised this style of modelling started in the 15th century.

Having worked with an architectural renderer has helped me to understand the reasons for this style of model building. It has specific purposes for revealing portions of the ship.

Now I have learnt something new about ship building. Thank you.

Hello Don
I have just spent the last couple of hours going over your Halifax build. You do show a very lot of very helpful information both on your own and also that of your very helpful shipmates. Using the Lumberyard building jig was very interesting to me with a lot of helpful hints that we help me greatly on my build the Oliver Cromwell, Thanks. I am very far behind you as of yet I have only cut out and roughly sanded but 7 Ribs with another two in the drying press. I do believe that I will leave the Ribs for a few days and start working on the Keel, Bow and stern timbers just for a slight change in pace. You say that you are 80 years old as I have 3 1/2 years to catch up to you, I only hope that I am half as spry as you when I finally get there, ENJOY.

Regards Lawrence
