TSS Earnslaw

Hi All here is my latest creation
TSS Earnslaw
Built in Dunedin New Zealand to service the farming stations and to bring out gold around Lake Wakatipu.
Builders John McGregor and Company Ltd Dunedin
Built 1911/12 and is still in service now in the tourist tade
Displacement 329.55 gross registered tons
Length 165 feet 7 inches or 50,7 meters
Beam 24 feet or 7.315 meters
Depth 9 feet 6 inches
Draught 6 feet 6 inches
This ship was built in Dunedin then transported to Kingston via rail 174 Kmtrs then assembled
The model built to a scale of 1/200 and is 10.08 inches long solid hull .03mm ply superstructure , all fitting were hand made even down to a grand piano at the aft of the promenade deck. The bridge also has a 4mm ships wheel plus engine telegraph and binnacle. The build time about 3.5 months

and even found plans on the internet!
I was quite surprised it is still sailing at that age.

Hi,
Yes still sailing all tourists now but looks great on the lake with mountain backdrop. Shes 104 years old now and is still coal fired using both triple action engines. There is no corrosion as the lake water is very pure. Goes thru bi annual survey with no problems.
