the M&M fun ship - 1:33 scale Billing's semi scratch build

Post by popeye » Tue Jun 19, 2012 6:48 am

I know.....I know.......I'm hopeless! I have the Gothenborg and the trawler on the table.....I should be in absolute bliss, right? well, think again  :!:
this build was in the thought process.....I was on a scavenger hunt to find all the parts before I started her.....I was hoping to get one of the others finished. I had made the frame for it back in mid may....my wife was wondering what the hull would look like....so I thought I would appease her. then she told some of her friends on {scary organ sound here} face book. now they want to see what I have done on it. I had to create the dry dock for it.....give her the link to share with her friends. at this point {I guess}....the darn thing came out from under the table and wormed it's way onto it..........and now there's no stopping it!

I have added a couple more build logs since then and I have another one I've yet to write......it's going to look cool though.......I'll do my best :D :D :D

Something vaguely familiar about this ship......what is it? :D

Do you have a bunch of bulkheads already cut to size over there?

Looks like fun and your usually amazing work.... :o

these rib parts were to be for another build I have in mind. since my wife didn't want a racing boat, in the sense that I wanted to build it, I decided to make the fun ship, using these ribs instead. I was to alter the bow and stern stems so the ship created wouldn't look like the Mary Ann. I'm going to alter the hull aspects to change the way it looks. thanks for looking in ;-)

Hello Popeye,

You're making fast progress. It's looking goog. And nice job on the deckchairs. Will Phyllis make the cushions for them?

With your imagination and ideas popping up in your head, she will become a beauty.

Looking forward to your progress.

Take care,

Anja

thanks Anja! I did a lot of sanding and faring yesterday. I'd show pictures....but that's about as boring as watching paint dry. I have also began the task of planking her. I could have gone with the 7mm planks, but I have had better luck with the 5mm planks......I can get a better contour to the hull. we are in the middle of a heat wave.....the first big one, and it officially starts the summer season. Phyllis thought I was nutz doing it......but I want to get this done, so I can get back to the others....and start this crazy rotation, already!!!! thanks for looking in.....I'll have an update soon :greetings-waveyellow:

Hi Popeye,

The heatwave is still going on?
I think Phyllis is right that you work when there is a heatwave......
You can better sit on the porch with a glass of limonade.... :D
I'll be waiting for the update!

this past Monday was our 24th anniversary. I took the day off.......it was such a dreary day that we just stayed home and relaxed. I took the day to do more planking.
