A Philippine Banca

Postby Donnie » Fri Mar 09, 2012 10:58 pm

If I were to try my hand at building a boat/ship from scratch, I thought a while back about building a Philippine Banca. However there are no plans whatsoever and there are many styles of which I have done some research on. Yep, the Admiral is a Filipino. I would have to go strictly by my imagination.

You need to get some detailed photo's and have something to scale them by. I'll check around the net for that one .

If the company that made them is still in existence, you can write to them. When you tell them you want to model their ship and will pay any cost, I have heard they are usually very cooperative.
Happy modeling,
Gary Maple

I honestly think my interest in this is way down the list as something in the far off future. I appreciate the interest that others have though. I have my hands full at the moment with my ship, site, and forum, wife, job -- etc. (not in any particular order)

Hello Donnie,

That's a very nice project you have in mind there. Being a resident here, I see those boats frequently in our Laguna Bay, and let me be the one to attest that they follow no specifications, and come in all shapes, colors and sizes (just like our Philippine Jeepney). The locals here are quite an ingenious bunch making use of whatever materials available, so you can let your imagination and creativity run free here sir ;-)

That is great to know ! it's Nice to see you on here I am Reggie I have been searching and found very little on the topic . Maybe you could ask around and see how they go about designing the boats . I know they tend to have the same main frame . And Welcome To Ships of Scale if you need anything just let us know anytime .

Aldo,

if you do not mind me saying. I have been to Philippines several times as my wife is Filipino. She was the one that pointed out to me this boat. I am sure to sure if or when I might build. I have my project on the Trinidad I am working on. Maybe for future. Thank you Aldo for your response !
