Hi Anja,
Thanks for your kind remarks. The word Windermere is for the Windermere Kettle that a lot of these Launches had installed during this time period. Their name is derived from the popularity of steam launches on Windermere, a lake in the English Lakes.
The story goes that Prince Philip, on a trip on one of these launches, cast doubt on the speed with which boiling water could be produced - and was promptly given the job of making a brew of tea...... Now if this is a true story I do not know.
The kettle was attached to heating coils coming from the boiler. One twist of the knob and the water would be boiling in a matter of seconds from steam coming from the boiler.

My pic shows the Windermere spelled incorrectly. No worries I have corrected the miss-spelling. ;-)

cheers Mario :D

She is really looking great, Mario.
I thought that the ship was named after a big lake in the Lake district in the United Kingdom.
I know that you can catch big fish over there.
But I didn't knew about your explanation. So you see...... You learn something new every day.
Great job.

Beautiful work Very clean and neat ! I noticed you had problems bending the wood dry without it breaking .I have a special wood for bending I will be using on the rear travase structure canopy I am building . It is a special Beechwood that is bendable . I'm not sure how to get it it came in my kit for the real de france by Corel . Maybe someone on here has more information . It bends very easily and doesn't break and the wood seems to hold it's form over time with no structure damage . I will post photo's on my site soon as I am starting to build the canopy . Any advice appreciated .All I know is they call it Special Bendable Beechwood . Your work is masterful keep up the wonderful work .Your a huge asset to this site .

Looking forward to your Bateau log Mario, I think Popeye has already reserved a V.I.P. slot for her on the scratchbuild logs ;-)
