Here's another one. Because of the curvature of the front bulkheads, you would THINK that the fo'c'sle planks should curve in. Not so - when I dry fit the fo'c'sle deck, I immediately saw that I had made a serious error. The green line shows how I curved the planks, the red line shows what it should be like.

After much swearing I came up with a plan to rectify the error - build up the planks and then sand it straight.

This shows the port side, corrected. The fo'c'sle deck now sits perfectly in place.

Comparison of both sides shows they are almost perfectly symmetrical. Note that the front edge of the fo'c'sle deck (that blends into the beakhead bulkhead) has been deliberately left with extra material so that I can shave it back in the future - this is why port/starboard looks asymmetrical.

You can also see my sneaky plan to hide all my spiled planks under the wales. I drew up where the wales were going to be, and made sure that any difficult curves would be hidden under them!
