I don't know if Steve has found this with the build he is doing. The following pictures are of (some of) the bamboo strips. I found that they are easily bent by hand and keep their new shape.

The strip does go back a little.

The top piece can be bent more than it can in the middle piece.

I used the clamp to keep this shape, when I gave it 5mm more the strip started sound like was cracking.

Some people may have read the comments that I posted in Steve's build regarding the warped keel pieces. The following pictures show how bad it is. My camera has a grid in the view finder, the centre line was kept in line with the string.

When the lower gun deck was fitted the hull straitened somewhat.

I made this base to hold the Sovereign and later the Victory. The lower end of the base looks like the ocean floor but is actually a cliff face. The original board was a picture of a winged unicorn.

Hi folks, last night, for some obscure reason, I Googled Sovereign of the Seas and came across this site (link at bottom of post).
I don't know if any of you have seen this. This SoS is a scratch build from Mantua plans and to make matters worse it is built by a female! she is a Czech. I am sure some of you have seen the link to the Russian lady that has built the WvHamburg.
If I can get half the quality she can by building from a kit then I will be very happy.

The link will open onto page 10, just start on page one and be wowed, remember this is a scratch build, incredible amount of photos.

Enjoy

She does incredible work and is still young. I wish I could sculpture but my art work is terrible and even my stick figures come out squiggled.
Happy modeling,
Gary Maple
