Hello all.
I'm starting my build log of my Royal Louis, which I started on April 12 2014.

Box on my table. As you can see, I have very limited space to build. Box fills my entire table almost. LOL

Assorted bags with assorted fittings. I have to say I am a little disappointed with so many metal parts. I will try to replace some, but I am no scratch builder.

You will never ever are going to see my work place (it's actually a blanket closet) this clean and neat again. And yes...this is all the room I have to build my ships.

OMG! Look at the size of this skeleton. It almost fills my table! And no bowsprit yet! Where am I going to do the actual work? :P

Good luck. Hope you enjoy the build. I agree that the price of the kit is a little high considering the quality and pot metal simplifications. Mine looks like an older kit than yours so hopefully they made some improvements.
Happy modeling,
Gary Maple

I think the wall to the right needs to be removed, and clear out whatever room is on the otherside. If your working on your ship, you wont be needing that room over there :text-lol: , :text-imsorry:

(Corrected the title of the initial post where it said this kit was by Corel. Corel was my recently finished Vasa, which you can see in the Completed Builds Forum. This is a Mamoli)

GaryM. I felt sad when you decided to quit building the RL. I was hoping that you made the mistakes and let me know about them  (J/K) I have always wanted this kit, but just couldn't afford it. Then in May 2010 Model Expo offered it at 450 dlls. and I just couldn't pass the opportunity.

Kent: I don't think the person using that room will be to happy. :)

Popeye, go for it.

did the unevenness interrupt the slots for the gun port? in the pictures, it didn't look like it did. perhaps shimming the tops under the deck might be an option.

Update April 15.
Glued all the frames, the 2 square bars that go all the length of them and a small piece that seems to be some sort of a holding place for the main mast.

Popeye: good point. Didn't think about that, but apparently there are just a few and minor misalignments

So far, so good!

Thanks for watching.

I found that you have to put all the decks in and then us a penetrating glue to lock in the frames. The decks need to be right is the most important thing. Mine was a very tight fit that way. You do not have to glue the deck in until you are ready, but they should be in when you glue the frames.

Too late! Frames are already glued. I tried to fit the decks and saw that I'm going to have to do a lot of sanding for them to fit. Hopefully the planking will cover that.
