the Gothenborg - a billing's 1:100 scale build

Postby popeye » Thu Apr 19, 2012 10:26 pm

WOW! I can't believe that this build isn't listed here! this kit was started back in May of 2011. I had never done one of these types of ships in wood before. I had tabled this build, partly to do some home work on it. I had brought it back out in January to continue the build, and it got tabled yet again, due to other builds. With the Susan A. almost complete, I moved her over to the other table and pulled out the Gothenborg to take it's place. it won't come off the table again. I have about 28 build logs on this build. if any one would like to read them....just let me know

http://thegothenborgdrydock.wordpress.c ... g-part-28/

here is the latest one.....on the main table
finished builds:
Nordkap 476 / Cux 87 / Gundalow
Mary Ann / Susan A. / M&M fun ship
Phylly C & Denny-Zen / AmericA
Andrea Gail

in cue:
Gothenborg
Half Moon
Boulogne Etaples
trawler Syborn
U.S.S. United States
Holiday Harbor
Titanic

Hello Popeye,

As you know, I am a big fan of your buildlogs :greetings-clapyellow:
So I would like to read them.

It is possible to read the log now, but I have to copy the links one by one in a different screen to open them.

Thanks and take care,

Anja :happy-sunshine:

Hi there Anja......of course you may read them....... :D When I started the wharf, the WordPress site was new to me.....all of my builds are all lumped together. then I got the idea of the dry docks, which makes listing them much better. with this site, I can have as many blogs {build logs} as I want....so, it made a lot of sense to do it this way. I was going to try and list them all for you, but to make it simple, I will just list the link to the wharf. if you should find it hard to navigate......let me know, and I'll do my best to help you with it

I just finished the build log on my progress of last week. it is more of an inspection, but I did some work to her.

http://thegothenborgdrydock.wordpress.c ... g-part-29/

I do have to find the right "like wood".....I have to make a couple parts that are not supplied in the kit. I have a lot of work to catch up on with this build.

Enjoy!!!

An interesting looking ship with crisp lines. Nice start. I built their Norske Love and Wasa and they looked great. I am sure you will do this kit justice.
Happy modeling,
Gary Maple

thanks Gary for the kind words :D it is a nice kit, despite the inaccuracies that I failed to see until it was too late. I'm building it anyway......just have to get what I've done so far cleaned up. I'm going to add whatever I can......it will look good.....I'll do my best :D

now that the Susan is finished, this build is next on my list. I have a build log on the progress, for those who like to read them, and as always, I will post highlight pictures of it. it has been hard to get a firm grasp on a starting point to continue, I guess the goal now is to play catch up and get the ideas flowing again.
