Hi Geoff and Donnie

Thank you for your comments.

I did not take the keel apart, I put a block of wood half way down and put a clamp on it then went to the bow end and clamped that, this bent the bow part about 25mm and left it for about 4 days.
I think it worked as it is only about less than half a millimetre out, I am hoping that when the lower deck goes on it will pull this into line.

John.

John,
that should work fine. I have had to do things like this before. I thought I would never get my San Felipe Keel straight. Even using the admirals iron !!

Hi Donnie

I think it was my fault I just glued it and left it on the table, should have put something on top.

Next it is sanding some frames but the admiral has to go out first ha ha.

Hi John

It sounds like you need to give the Admiral a good excuse to go out, I am sure you will think of something.

Cheers

John
it will be a beautiful model!
A bit too late but I used isopropyl alcohol to un-glue parts (previously glued with Triton glue) and I am happy with the result. It is available at Bunnings.

Hi all

I know I am going a bit ahead of myself but I find it hard to find wood for the base.

I emailed a timber yard and said I was looking for a slab of Cherry for a baseboard.
They had the size I wanted 800mm x 200mm x 25mm but it is rough sawn, so as I have a thickness sander I will sand it down with that.

Ordered it Thursday arrived yesterday (Monday).
It cost $46 + P and P $40.

Hi John

It is not to early to think about the base board as you will need a way of screwing you Mystique to the base board.

My thicknesser will only handle 80mm wide which in most cases will be wide enough.

Cheers

hi John,
I ordered a beautiful solid cherry baseboard with routed edges of the same dimensions as you specified from Max at ZHL models and it was cheaper than what you paid.

cheers Brian.
