Gary, I really like this model, it has always been on my future wish list, your build just makes me want it more! You did an excellent job with it, now if I can only finish my current SIX builds on the bench, then get the money together and purchase the bloody thing for myself.

Thanks a lot John. She is a real beauty and I recommend when you do attempt to build her, you get the pictures from the Louve in Paris of the model to be able to help make it a good and accurate model.
Happy modeling,

Thanks popeye. Sure saves cleaning her and worrying about an accident, plus it actually enhances the ship.

I had friends from the ship model club I belong to come over and see my model. I got out the picture of the ship that comes with the kit and used that to compare the rigging with the rope they supply with the kit and mine where I used the appropriate size lines. I had forgotten how incredible the difference was. Mantua's is so heavily lined and clunky. It is unrealistic looking. It cost a little more to do things using the right size blocks and line but the end result is so marvelous that is it well worth the effort and expense, especially when you consider how much time you have invest in build the model. Also, after you have built a few, you build up a stock so the cost becomes less with each ship. The end result is that the model goes from being a nicely looking vessel to a realistic looking work of art and really shows off the craftsmanship. It looks like it would really sail and could be handled well even in a storm.

Hello Gary,
A ship with his rigging is very beautiful and your "Soleil Royal" is nice to see.
Home it's also a reference.

Good Year 2017,

Daniel.
