I just tried a search of

"Black Pearl Build log"

My posts on MSB and SOS do come up, but not until the second page.

I think the light needs to shine a lot brighter!
Current Build: ZHL Black Pearl 1:50

Next Up: Billing Boats Bounty 1:50

Researching for POB scratch build : HMS Ferret 1:48 (1711)

oh it will

keep in mind what we have going here two web sites and 2 forums and a free E- published journal. Plus more forums willing to join up one about........... well lets wait on that thought don't want to jump to fast.

we also got to keep in mind forums that get to big end in chaos I think it is about quality not quantity.

Very true, but SOS is a little 'hidden' at the moment, like a lantern in the distant mist on the internet. I am mostly thinking about Donnie attracting newcomers to SOS which I think is a great aim because there is a friendly group here very willing to help out.

I know from my own experience it was not easy to find SOS as a newbie. If the site had been a little higher profile I have no doubt I would have landed here first and posted up the Pearl log right from opening the box. I know though that web promotion can be time consuming and can cost money. Perhaps we need to hear from Donnie his vision of SOS and then see how we as the 'crew' can help him achieve it.

We must get big since every forum shows the same pattern, maybe 5% is active.

We must get big since every forum shows the same pattern, maybe 5% is active.

if all forums have a "pattern" that gives us a clue what not to do and what works best. We got to be that alternative and don't follow the crowd. We may never show our true influence by silly numbers at the bottom but it is about the unseen influence in model building in general.

what I did was post questions and a link back to MSB about the tug Alva on different forums. what that does is to make members of other forums aware of other forums. Some members will think hey I never knew about this "other" forum and explore it even bookmark it to keep an eye on it something that catches their attention will sign up so they can post a question or answer.

There is much more to this so we cast our nets wider for example as the Alva build log begins with story telling and goes into the building of the slip a diorama questions about the diorama construction I post on model railroad forums asking how to do this or that with links back to the main build log on SOS/MSB. Now people into diorama building look and think hey that is nice never thought of that. Get my drift here we weave "model building" into all types of forums.

Little Big horn and Custers last stand

This is not about how many posts we can get a day or how big we can get the membership number. it is about networking

poor Custer thought his troops out numbered the little indian tribe little did he know he was facing the unseen combined forces of the Lakota.
;-) ya get the drift

I expect the Pirate's haven will end up on Facebook for exposure. (what a brilliant contradiction in terms lol). I will though link it back to SOS in any way I can, without this site my build would be very much in the dark so I very much appreciate Donnie providing this site for us.

the reason the numbers don't count is because SOS/MSB are "open" sites all kinds of people come and go there is no membership required or signing up to see everything. :text-welcomeconfetti:

I do believe we got it now and everyone is rowing in the same direction.

I have a question about placing images in posts like you see here

http://modelshipbuilder.com/e107_plugin ... p?19718.20

I can place text then an image then more test and another image.

on SOS all the text is at the top of the post and all the images are at the bottom.
this setup makes it difficult if you want to comment on an image then move on to more text and images.
The format makes it hard because you read the text then scroll down to the image you are referring to and scroll up and down loosing your place.
the only way I see is to break everything down into separate posts.
