Golden Kits Enterprise

Postby jct » Fri Dec 20, 2013 9:58 am

Thought I would add a few pics of my Enterprise, though not as nice as some of the build I see here, I am happy with the way he turned out.
The ship was all but complete when it took a serious nose dive off the desk top ( the family feline was suspect but never would confess) she suffer severe damage with spars and mast broken, deck rails smashed and missing…general a wreck.
I put it until a few years ago year when I brought it of moth balls made the repairs and finished the build.

Thought I'd post a few in process pics of this build, yellow markings are areas that were damaged and had to be repaired

Fore mast was broken in the fall, so I cut it off and when drilling for the new mast the drill slipped...after much cursing I repaired and re-drilled. Mast ring covers most of this on the finished model

I total understand when a ship has an accident and you put it away. It gets you so angry and can not bear to even think about it. To get it out and fix it is hard. When t gets broke as bad as yours did, it takes a lot to not just toss it away. Nice job of repairing the damage.
Happy modeling,
Gary Maple

Gary,
Thanks so much for your kind remarks...she's not museum quality by any means, but the ship does mean a lot to me (was a gift from a late relative) and resurrecting it was an enjoyable challenge.

Jct, this was a very nice save. You did a great job repairing her, I would never have know anything was broken until you pointed out the details. Beautiful job and I hope you enjoy your accomplishment for many years to come, now go out and kill that damn cat! :text-lol:

Thx much Kent, I am really happy with the way she came around, as for the cat, he has moved on but did last for 20 yrs, but in his day he was the suspect in many similar crimes.

J,

I agree – A nice job you did, both on the basic model as well as the repair work. Kudo's for persevering through the rebuild!

And, I'm sure you provided much enjoyment for the cat with your model. Wow, 20 years. We just lost one last year that was that old. She never took out any of my models, but then again, she hadn't lived with me for more than a few years at a time.

Anyway, well done!

Hello jct. I just wanted to add my congratulations for an extremely nice recovery from the feline terrorist attack!
The pics show a good model, one you can be proud of. And I love the colour scheme!
