"Al Bahran" Arabic Dhow

Post by Laerte » Tue Oct 18, 2011 4:13 pm

About a year and a half after my discharge from the Italian Navy, where I built my first wooden model, the "Toulonnaise" by Corel (later donated to a colleague on the occasion of my leave), immediately after my marriage, I had a first relapse of the modeller's disease .
So I rushed to buy the first thing I found ... :D the luck willed that it was the Arabic (dhow) "Al Bahran" by Corel. I say luck because it's a beautiful boat, with really special lines as well as an unusual sailing equipment, that lends itself to modifications and interesting finishings. You know that it was only my second wooden model, which I built in 1986 and that is passing, in these days, on my workbench for a series of restorations, cleaning and retouching.
Waiting for your critics and comments,
Fair Winds everybody,
Laerte

Laerte,
I agree with Popeye - that is quite an unusual vessel. I wonder what period? You should put her on my gallery !

Hi Laere,
A really nice model. I really like the sails they look very well done. When everyone says that sails will always be out of scale no matter what. Your look great
