How to Donate to SOS

Post by Donnie » Sun Oct 08, 2017 8:41 pm

.
.
Now that Ships of Scale is on a new Web Host, it is time to focus on a new type of forum software that will be more streamlined and offer more flexibility and tools for the users.

I sincerely want to thank those that contributed to get us this far. However, we only have a little more to go to reach the goal for the new software. Since 2009, SOS has used what is called Open Source programming which has no cost to it. So why the change? There are numerous reasons.
  • The main and first reason is technical support and being able to issue support tickets. As Forum / Board software (and even the Open Source) becomes more complicated, it is even more necessary to rely on experts in the field.
  • A large variety of Themes and Templates to choose from that are supported by staffed developers.
  • Add ons that work exclusively with the software and not take a risk on compatibility issues
  • updates and upgrades more streamlined with better support

So, with this said, I hope that you all agree with this change as it will provide a better secure site and better functionality in the back end as well.

Therefore, again I want to provide the link below and thank you again for being a loyal member of Ships of Scale.

Dear Friends,
I am humbled by the participation and Donations so far in such a short time. As the Donations continue, the Funds will be deposited into a special account to keep track of. In the meantime several of us are taking a look at three (3) different Hosting companies that are of the top three on the market today. This decision of which hosting company will not be rushed into. It must be of careful consideration.

I will use this page to keep everyone up to date. There are other very important decisions that has to be made.

Sincerely,
D. Driskell

This Website and forum continues to be very important to those of us that build ship models. It is a communication conduit for a very solitary hobby. Most of us spend countless hours alone in our hobby and SoS is the opportunity to interact with our peers. I hope you will join with me in supporting Donnie and his crew as they moves the site on to a better place. As has been said, it is easy to donate and I am sure that whatever you contribute will be appreciated.

Regards from Canada,

Bill
