Geoff's HMS Blandford Cross Section Build

Welcome to the Blandford Project. We will be building a cross-section of an early 18th century British 20 gun ship at the main mast. The purpose of this exercise is to introduce you to the process involved in building a model from scratch.

Hi Geoff,
The drawings for Part 1 (the build board) have a scale at the bottom of the drawings and the bill of material lists the quantity and length of the material required.
Are you building the 1:48 scale cross section now?

Hi Mike

I think I have worked out the printing issue and can print on my home printer. As long as I know what the length of the scale is on the on whether the it is the 1:32 or the 1:4748 I can work that out.

I thank you personally for your time a dedication on this project. I realize some members will start this build sometime down the tack. Some are in the middle of builds. I am willing to put my 2 builds on hold, just to learn. I thank you for that opportunity.

Cheers
Geoff

Earlier in the week I purchases a Flush Wire Side Cutters Shears to cut brass wire with for my project.

Looking at the cutter it appear as it will cut flush on the bottom side. of the wire. I will need to rotate the with the cutter to me a flush my next pin for the project. To me it looks like a good tool.

Hi Geoff,
If you have an architectural scale you can check the scale on the bottom of the drawing the scale is 10 feet long.
The side cutters will work well for you on soft brass or copper wire, I use them to rough cut planking then sand the planking to the finished line. It is easier than using a saw.
