3D-printed wicker chairs - a whole new direction for modelling

A number of years ago, an uncle of mine, who was an architect in Florida, taught a course on 3D-printing and the idea was to build a chair that could only be manufactured using 3D-printing. The goal was that it had to support a 250-pound person. You can look up the "bone chair" and you will see all kinds of examples.

Fast-forward a couple of decades and I was asked to design the wicker chairs that go in the back of one of my frame set designs.

With the help of our friend, Francois, who is on this forum with his amazing build of a Bentley Blower, we have created these wonderful wicker chairs in 1:8 scale. These will be part of the accessories set for the Charles Mower #22 boat.

I think this is the direction 3D-printing will be taking as time passes. Parts like this are very interesting, but would take a huge effort, and some great skill, to construct in small scale.
