Newsletter June
Donnie Driskell
In this issue of the June newsletter, I want to feature a ship that was sent to me. The builder is Robert Thompson and as you can see, it is a fine Cutty Sark that he scratch built. Below is a write up that he sent to me. This build is also shown on my main website if you want to see larger images of it.

Enjoy !!

The Model was started in 1977 and took about 5 years to build when it was exhibited in the Model Engineer show in Wembley in 1983 and was highly commended. It is completely scratch built with masts and spars all turned from Lignum Vitae and even every piece of rigging twisted and turned from various grades of nylon or metal wires to make the many different sizes and types. Obviously the hull is plank on frame and the sheathing is made up of some 3000 separate brass plates all cut with a pair of tinsnips so sharp I could split a human hair with them !
