UNBOXING H.M.A.V. BOUNTY - CALDERCRAFT scale 1/64.
After much deliberation about building/buying this ship I finally decided on the Caldercraft kit over Occre's due to price(I got this kit for) and a few other advantages like the copper plating and Rigging thread I wouldn't have to purchase after sales. Also with the kits I have still to build size is becoming an issue regards space.
On opening the box I was not disappointed in the quality of the material there a numerous lengths of wood Ply,Lime, Walnut, Tanganyika etc.. I would have gave sizes but the battery in my calliper has drained.
All CNC cut...
There are several sheets of mostly 5mm plywood for the bulkheads, keel and other fittings.
The 2 ships boats are greatfully done in wood also, a big change from nasty cast metal ones.
There are also numerous sizes of dowels for the masting a big bag of caldercrafts quality rigging thread. The fixtures and fittings include gratings, Deadeyes 3mm and 5mm, Heart blocks, single, double and treble rigging blocks. Cleats, belaying pins, s, stern and quarter gallery architecture, bag of copper plates, eyepins, nails, wire and copper rods. Figurehead and a photo etch sheet with lots of fittings including stern architecture and lamps.
All together with a lovely instruction book and 8 large sheets of plans for construction.
Length 660mm
Height 540mm
Width 245mm
